NITDA, CAC Move to Tighten Cybersecurity Across MDAs Amid Rising System Security Concerns

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) have intensified cybersecurity measures following emerging concerns over the security of government digital systems. Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) have also been directed to tighten their cybersecurity controls to prevent potential breaches and protect sensitive national data.

The development follows reported vulnerabilities affecting parts of the CAC’s digital infrastructure, prompting immediate incident response actions and inter-agency collaboration to assess and contain any risks.

According to officials involved in the response process, the CAC has activated its cybersecurity protocols and is working with NITDA and other relevant security stakeholders to investigate the situation, identify possible entry points, and reinforce system integrity. The commission is also reviewing access controls and urging users of its digital platforms to observe heightened security precautions.

NITDA, as the federal government’s apex ICT regulatory body, has stepped in to coordinate broader cybersecurity reinforcement across MDAs. The agency is overseeing technical assessments and guiding institutions on improved security practices to reduce exposure to cyber threats.
