IGP Olatunji Disu Orders Tight Security Across Nigeria to Keep Citizens Safe

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has issued a directive to all Commissioners of Police and Tactical Commanders across the 36 states of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to implement robust security arrangements aimed at ensuring public safety and order.

According to a statement released by the Nigeria Police Force, the directive emphasizes intelligence-led policing, enhanced visibility, and tactical deployments across key locations, including highways, motor parks, recreational centers, and public gatherings.

The IGP specifically instructed senior police officers to:

Deploy tactical police assets and personnel to strategic locations nationwide.

Conduct coordinated patrols and surveillance operations to deter criminal activity.

Strengthen stop-and-search operations based on actionable intelligence.

Maintain heightened security around areas expected to host large gatherings, including religious and festive events.

Encourage citizens to report suspicious activities promptly to nearby police stations.

Speaking on the directive, a police spokesperson noted that the move is part of the force’s broader strategy to proactively prevent crime and security threats while safeguarding lives and property.

This directive underscores the IGP’s commitment to maintaining peace and security across the country. The Nigeria Police Force remains resolute in its duty to protect Nigerians and ensure that all public spaces are safe, the statement added.
