BREAKING: Security Forces Rescue 13 Kidnapped Passengers in Benue State
Security operatives have successfully rescued 13 passengers who were abducted in Benue State, marking a major breakthrough in ongoing efforts to curb kidnapping incidents along the Makurdi–Otukpo highway.
The victims were reportedly freed following a coordinated operation carried out by a joint team of security agencies in the early hours of Sunday. The rescue brings relief to families and residents who had been thrown into panic since the abduction occurred.
The passengers were kidnapped by armed men while travelling along the Otukpo–Makurdi axis, a route that has witnessed a rise in criminal activities in recent times, including kidnappings and armed robberies.
Although official details of the operation remain limited, security sources confirmed that intelligence-led tracking and sustained pressure on the kidnappers led to the release of all 13 victims. The abductors are believed to have abandoned the hostages and fled the area before security forces arrived at the location.
Authorities have yet to confirm whether any arrests were made or if a ransom was paid before the rescue operation. Investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible for the attack.
The rescued victims are currently receiving medical attention and undergoing routine security screening before being reunited with their families. Officials say their condition is stable.
